Food and Drink :: 150 Calorie Chocolate-Chip Brownies

Remember that 30 day sweet free challenge I started…well, I failed. Ha! I knew I would and I tried. I made it to day 4 and the call of the granola bar ended me.

Well, I am still trying to keep my diet relatively healthy and depriving myself of a treat wasn’t working at all.

Today, I decided to go back to a tried a true recipe for chocolate- chip brownies using Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Brownie Mix and applesauce!

What you’ll need: (makes 12)
- Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Brownie Mix (1 box)
- 2/3 cup of unsweetened natural applesauce
- 2 tbsp of mini chocolate chips (optional)
- 3 tbsp of powdered sugar (optional)

Reheat to 350f
Simply mix the ingredients together! Easy peasy!
Separate batter equally into a greased (with cooking spray) 12 muffin tin.

Let the brownies cool a bit in the pan.
Add the powdered sugar to a food storage bag
3 at a time, add the brownies to the sugar and lightly toss to coat
When finished, store in an airtight container and enjoy!

Mine last for a week, since I share with my husband. What I have noticed is that these brownies “age” very well. By the end of the week they are very fudge-y and delicious!

I also make them in muffin form for two reasons. One, built in portion control. Two, the low fat brownies tend to be very sticky to cut through. Making them this way is less messy and less stressful.

You can try peanut butter chips, white chocolate chips…what ever you fancy. You’ll only need a couple tablespoons and divide the calories by 12 and add that to the base calories of 135.
