Have you seen this pin circulating around Pinterest?
The caption reads::
“Tub Cleaner – vinegar and dish soap, no scrubbing! Heat 1/2C white vinegar in m’wave for 90 sec, pour int spray bottle. Add 1/2C BLUE Dawn dish soap. Shake gently to mix. Spray on surface, let it sit 1-2 hours. Just wipe it away then rinse with water. Should also take soap scum off shower doors!”

If you’re like me, you hate cleaning the shower/tub because it’s so labor intensive…put it off and eventually it gets dirty enough that it requires an awful lot of effort to get it clean. In short, it’s a huge chore!
Add to that hard water, years of calcium buildup and grimy (hard working)men and you get some nasty dirty stains.
This pin intrigued me. It looks so simple, and the lack of chemicals always appeals to me. Also, CHEAP!!
I couldn’t resist! I had both the ingredients on hand and time to kill.
I mixed up a batch. It was very smelly…as hot vinegar tends to be. I am not especially bothered by that smell so this didn’t present a problem for me. It might burn your nostrils a bit, but just open a window.
It’s a blue spray, so you can really see where it is and apply it well.
I allowed mine to sit on the dirt for a bit over 2 hours (had errands to run).
I took a damp rag and wiped down the surface area of the tub…the very dirty spots needed a bit of “elbow grease” but it got the majority of it up easily.
Here’s a before and after. I have darkened the pics a bit so the sort is easier to see:
